Used to do a 3 hour total commute every day. God, that was awful. At the beginning, you tell yourself it's not so bad, etc, but when you start counting how many hours of your spare time it's taking up...

Now got a 7-minute walk to work. Sometimes at lunchtimes I pop home for a quick game of Team Fortress 2. Feel free to hate me.

I used to work 50 yards from home.

Sometimes at lunchtime i used to nip home for a spot of 8-

Whats your Steam ID?

My commute is about a 10-20 minute drive depending on traffic. When it hits summer time I may get a bike. I briefly had a commute of about an hour and a quarter but moved soon after I got the job because my time is worth a lot to me.

i changed career two years ago, commuting was a major factor.
so i'm down cash but the time i got back is so worth it. you only have one life, you don't get that time back.
i'm ditching the car when the tax expires next summer, i haven't used it in over two weeks and now take the bicycle everywhere.

i know of a guy who drove four hours everyday, he was going to quit but he thought he was going to be let go any day so he stuck it out for the redundency. anyway he died in an early morning smash with a truck. it's not worth it.
all our secondary roads and some primary routes were designed by cow paths and estate boundaries, it's simply too dangerous to commute long term off motorways.

I'm just sick of it to be honest. There is no more atmosphere. I hate the expense of overpriced rent for just living close to work. As soon as i have my full license, i am out of here and moving to the country. I'd rather avoid overcrowded, overpriced, over knackery dublin life. It just has become so depressing in recent years. Sorry for generalising but this is really for those who just live in dublin because they work here. If i was offered the same job in the country,i would take it like that to avoid all the hustle and bussle of the mundane and repetition of living in a never ending cycle.

My commuting has improved in recent months but it's still bad bad bad.
With the tourism season picking up in Kerry and Cork the roads are getting busier but there appears to be much less of them around that a couple of years ago. The hospitality and tourism sector appears to me to be holding face but i think that certain industries are suffering, especially if they are renting a property and don't mostly staff the business with family and close ones.

Anyhow even though things have improved, due mainly to improved roundabouts at Killarney it's time to stop all of this commuting and move to rented accomodation.
The idea is to change from driving 2 hours a day to less than 35 minutes, or better still less than 20 but I'll put up with a slightly longer journey for a better environment.

Undoubtedly commuting must be one of the most unhealthy and degenerating ways of destroying a persons will and capability. Shagged in the evening I am.

The target for moving to independent rented accomodation has been set. 2 months from next Sunday.
Then life begins anew.

 it takes me the whole of 5 seconds to roll out of bed and commute to my workstation in the home office room next door

used to "commute" in Dublin with an hour cycle (fastest way to get around) each way, never again i still have nightmares about evil Dublin bus drivers chasing me with a fleet of doubledeckers
