Does anyone know of a good ticketing software, one that can be run via a web browser? Maybe even an open source setup online vis a vis Goggle Apps.

I'm looking to use the simple logic of ticketing to sales enquirers and maybe other responsibilities. It seems it mostly employed in service support for software and the like but it looks to me to be just as applicable for capturing and managing other inputs.

I've seen "things" on the MAC and its great but I am not sure they have developed a central severing suite for the clients so you can work with many people unless I've missed a trick. There is also the fact it needs MAC or iphone hardware and for the moment thats not a cost effective.

So something that works in a browser format is fine for me right now it means anyone can access it from anywhere.

Any thoughts or links appreciated thanks!

JIRA is free for use by official non-profit organisations, charities and open source projects.

It is basic, with no bells or wistles, just as auto e-mail logging, but it will do the trick.

Trac is a flexible issue tracking system with a web interface.

It has some adoption in the open source world. We used it in my org for a while and found it to be reasonably good. Probably more customizable than something like Things but less user-friendly, or at least less pretty.

Oh yes TRAC! I forgot about that. Thanks.

Trac is pretty nice, we use it on my lab too.

One other option is Drupal, and the drupal project and project issue tracking modules.

A bit like Trac, you get a lot of other bells and whistles too. I do remember going over lots of alternatives, it's not an easy task to pick a ticket management system.

There is also the Bluetail ticket tracker, http://btt.sourceforge.net/. It is free (GPL) - I haven't used it myself, but it is written in Erlang, which I like! (The authors are also seriously good hackers).

Got CRM included so might be useful for sales too

Trac would be pretty much overkill if your not managing a software project with it. If your looking for a simple ticketing app, osTicket and OTRS aren't bad:

http://www.osticket.com
http://otrs.org

If your looking for a sales focused, CRM type app, have a look at SugarCRM or Vtiger:

Some actual software written in Erlang... it's a long time since I've seen that... I used to love playing with that language... I'm checking this out!
