Keeping a very close eye on their investment or did they get a deal they couldn't refuse?

It was mentioned earlier in the thread that it's actually AIB who are financing the Elysian.

No worries. My dad was slagging me for weeks until I pointed out the fact to him.
He's a bit traditional he is.

A restaurant/bar is after moving in on the ground floor.

Ahem .... I believe both ACC and AIB have a slice of the pie on this phallic development.
Hence the occupation of the ground floor unit... or so a wee rebel birdy has informed me.

Word on the street is that O'Flynn is attempting to buy out the owners of the handful of apartments that were sold. Houses in his developments in Ballincollig are being offered as an exchange by all accounts. The banks apparently can not take over control of the building while these folk are in situ.

if the banks can't take over would that mean that the building couldn't be NAMA-ised. Because if it can't then presumably that would lead to massive firesale.

I've heard this a few times but for houses in Mount Oval and also somewhere in Glanmire. Who knows all 3 could all be true sounds plausible enough, though I'm a little wary of it being an urban legend.

Also seem to remember one of the remember one of the buyers covered in the examiner were a retired couple downsizing from a really nice period house (likely still unsold anyway) so I wouldn't be too happy to be offered an identikit estate house back out in the suburbs if I were them.

Afraid not. Nama is buying loans. Good bad and harney. The bank could step in and manage the property if they want to.
