Yeah.. He also said he did not know what the hell he had done for the day as he was so busy.." I bought and sold "I don't know what" or words to that effect.. Ah for fuck sake, calling out names on the show. What is it, some version of a fucking talent show. Nobody needed to see that to understand the gravity of the situation.

I would assume the owner and staff agreed to do that.

I'd assume that too but I don't think it was necessary. The picture was pretty stark without resorting to that type of shit.

The program could have been better in some areas (repossession women being the main one) but I believe the show will connect with joe public by putting into images what they feel and see going on around them.

I reckon he had been cleaned out that day and was worrying about that big repo guy coming around and taking the Porsche.

I wasn't too sure of the point in having the futures traders in the program. All I got from their segments is that they're still arrogant gits who still think they're the masters of the universe. Nothing learned from the last 2 years.

It's hard to see how Lehmans is responsible for all this.

Primetime had an agenda of representing the people as victims of the banks. The guy with the house on Pembroke Rd should have been pressed on why he thought he could flaunt the planning laws as part of his business plan. With the limited knowledge we have of the case it appears that the only way he could have serviced the debt was by pretending the property was a pre-63 and chopping it up into bedsits like landlords in the good old days.
The woman in Carlow should have been asked what she did with the money back in '99 and whether she thought it was prudent to put the family home on the line for personal expenditure.

He had a heap of insolvency files laid out on a snooker table and rattled off the debts owed on each.
One example was where the debt was 10 million and the underlying assets were only worth 3 million.
There was some shite on that table.
He said the NAMA guys will be lucky to realise 30 billion out of the 80 billion in loans outstanding to the banks
Sounds like we're snookered :nin

I think they have an agenda of being populist.

The Banks are a soft target. A very small percentage of the population will ask questions, such as..."is the world really such a bad place if a slum lord ends up living in a slum".

I don't think it's even a question of objectivity. I think it's purely that they don't know how to make shades of grey simple enough for people to watch, understand and relate to. Everything has to be Good vs Evil, Victims and Villians.

It makes everything easy. Easy for journalists, easy for politicians.
It's dumbing down pure and simple.

The show was interesting but nothing we didn't already know. I have little sympathy. What I saw was mostly the result of greed and the consequences there-off . I mean come on that one guy was worth 24 million at the height of the boom. What kind of investor are you if you put all your eggs in one basket and don't stash away for a rainy day. What is crazy is that I know several people in the same boat. Talentless chancers who taught that the ability to get ever increasing loans from a bank was a career. They had their feet up for the last 10 years and now they are the most unemployable people in the economy. Nuts
