In Saturdays Examiner there was a headline

€3k payment to ESB workers ‘was a bonus’

Bristling with indignation and outrage I was about to attack my nearest ESB pole, when I read the article the first paragraph reads

Quote:
The Labour Court has ruled a “13th month” payment of up to €3,000 to 300 staff at EBS was a “bonus” and not a sum to which they were contractually entitled.
In Dec 2011, the 300 staff, members of the Unite trade union, staged a strike after the company withdrew the payment from non-management.

How difficult is it for an editor to check that you have named the correct company. Its just sloppy Sloppy journalism

Technically speaking, it's sloppy sub-editing.

When that poor Irish mountaineer was struck by lightning & killed a few months back climbing Kilimanjaro, Pascal Sheehy, RTE News, in a pre recorded piece stated

"The body is being removed from Tasmania." This went out on the 6pm and 9pm news.

Not Tanzania, no?

Passengers to check themselves through emigration at Dublin Airport in new trial of border controls
Quote:
Adult airline passengers from Ireland and dozens of European countries will be allowed to check themselves through immigration in a new self-service border control.
Dublin Airport has been chosen for a six-month trial of so-called e-gates, where travellers will use a special machine to match their faces with the photo on their passport.
