Yesterday FF announced they wanted water charges abolished..

Today FG announce First Time Buyer grants are on the way back
http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/hous ... 54435.html
Quote:
The first-time buyers' grant is set to return in the Budget in the form of a tax rebate.
The Housing Minister Simon Coveney says it is part of the Government's plan to make it more affordable to buy a home.
Mr Coveney says the final parts of the system, which will unveiled on Budget Day in four weeks' time, are still being worked out.
However, he has confirmed there will be some kind of help, through the tax system, for people getting onto the property ladder.
The Minister said: "I think it'll be something along the lines of a first-time buyers' grant, effectively through the tax system, and through a tax rebate system.
"But the extent of that and the means by which it is done is still being finalised at the moment."

We're doomed

"Hey Enda, you know what worked really well when Fianna Fail did it? First-time buyers' grants. There was literally no downside at all!"

"OK Simon, off you go. Too busy finding my mojo."

I think I just heard the SherryFitz orgasm from here!

"Put 10% on to our stock list price - across the board on everything under 500k! Now!"

As was said before - this isn't "the housing crisis", it's simply "the housing policy".
This. Is. Ireland.

Heard Simon Coveney interviewed on the radio lunchtime news.

In relation to the new first time buyers grants, he said the Gov't wanted to "encourage an appetite for risk" XX .

(I looked for a Smilie with a dice but couldn't find one).

Sounds like he wants the return of true Irishmen: the Canny McSavvys of the island.

He might as well have said....
"Go all in now - don't worry about the risk. Property can only go up, safe as houses, your home is an investment, you can always trade up, you can always release equity, make sure you buy off the plans, queue up at the Developer's office, make sure to do the "stage payments", get as much as you can, you can always go interest-only if you get stuck, trade up the car too, you're a hero, absolutely nothing can go wrong, buy with your brother, buy with your friend, get on the ladder, don't sit on the sidelines cribbing, get in the game, you can always rent out a room.... etc etc etc"

This is horrifying.
Again.
For the SECOND time in 10 years.

And anyway, if you can't pay you won't be evicted!

Lane needs to watch his back, he's in the way of their plans now. Fat Micheal will be sending hired goons round.

Don't forget...Coveney is very much seen as a future Taoiseach by the media/establishment in this Country. He's 1 of the more able/articulate members of the Dail they say.
It's fookin scary

As a FTB who has bought in the last 12 months was my initial reaction
(a) Damn, I missed out on that
(b) It's a good thing for FTBs who are struggling to get on the property snake
(c) That should sort the housing crisis out
(d) None of the above

A virtual high five for the first correct answer.
