So we need to decide in one clear, concise sentence exactly what we are out marching for. Will anybody take charge of this? Also there's the where and when do we meet. When we have these established, we can go about the publicity. Some excellent slogans and graphics there btw.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
First Post, been lurking for a long time on the site, been through renovation of old house in Cork City, blood, sweat and tears and a shed load of cash. Sold in May for an OK price, got out by the skin of our teeth. Four years hard labour for no return. Anger towards FF has been building for years, what they stand for and what they have done to our Republic. I cannot sit idly by anymore. A protest does need to be mounted. Sacrifices need to be made. In twenty years time I want to look back on this period with my head held high, knowing that I did my best to try and avert the impending disaster. The billions wasted on the banks with result in untold and unncessary misery for thousands of our fellow citizens due to inevitable savage cuts in social provision. The need to demonstrate against NAMA goes beyond party allegence, economic leaning, socio-economic background, race or creed.

The only way NAMA can be prevented is by stopping it being passed in the DAIL. As I see it, the only way of doing this is to focus attention onto the Greens. They're weak, they're scared, they can be pressurised, they may buckle. I'm ashamed to say that I'm and ex party member. I could see a protest movement attacking on four fronts:

1. Large scale demonstration in Dublin, August 29th seems a bit short notice.
2. Smaller demonstration oustide Green Party HQ, perhaps lasting a number of days
3. Sit-in protest GPO Dublin, completely passive, Gandhi style, would require a hardcore of perhaps 100, who would be willing to chain themselves together and last as long as possible.
4. Information campaign via national media. This would need money. Time to put money where your mouth is. I for one pledge 500 Euro to an information fund targetting the tabloids, commercial radio stations.

As regards messaege, I see it being straight-forward:
1. The sock puppets who got us into this mess, can't be thrusted to get us out of it.
2. Bank Bailout = Bankruptcy = Loss of Soverenty

If there is a group of people out there trying to organize something offline please contact me I want to get involved.

Thanks for your time.

I have set up a Facebook group titled 'No to Nama'. We really need to get the ball rolling, and I dont think the Property Pin reaches enough people. :!:

I have committed a modest EUR110 to place ads for the new group targeting Irish facebook users. :!:

This is the link http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=233861925262

Join the group and forward to all your Facebook friends. I need people to get involved and become admins for the Group. I dont have any experience in the political or protesting realm. But hopefully the new Facebook group will become a conduit for spreading the message rapidly to the general Irish public.

I'm curious. How many of the people so furious with Fianna Faíl voted for them in the last election or indeed the election before or at any previous election? If you did, what did you think you were endorsing? I will not be at the protest.

Of course, there is the idea that most of the crap will stay on the books for eons and eventually be sold back to the usual suspects.

Banks recapitalised, lend to their old friends, buy back the old assets (liabilities) for cents on the Euro. Major public debt but the system is saved.

This to me is what NAMA is. That's how the system will be saved.

I started this thread, as I am furious about what is going on in Ireland.

This is now a call for action. I am prepared to put up a modest amount of money to make the 29th happen. I need help. I am a middle aged businessman and have never protested in my life.

I am a tooth and claw capitalist but in this matter for the first time in my life I am a card carrying socialist. I oppose NAMA as it is a welfare scheme for the bankers and developers; I nearly puked at the government latest scheme for subsiding employment. Any real business man wants the following:

1. Less tax
2. Less tax relief schemes
3. Less subsidies for their competitors
4. Less but fair and equitable regulation
5. A free market

In terms of the NAMA Street protest I want this to kick off a revolution in Irish politics whereby the people can have as serious and real choice.

The purpose of the protest is as follows:

1) To reject NAMA, as proposed
2) To repeal the blanket guarantee of the banks. If it was introduced by law it can be repealed in the same way. We should not mortgage the future of our children, and our children’s children, to ensure the survival of 6 reckless and stupid companies
3) The nationalisation, consolidation, and re-flotation of the 6 Irish banks. All profits’ to accrue to the people. All losses arising from this act to be taken from the profits of the refloated banks.
4) The introduction of a free and comprehensive freedom of information act, to include the property registers of Ireland

I need the following:
1) Good IT people
2) A couple of the SWP party members, you know how to do it.
3) People who feel the same
4) Stewarts for the protest.
5) An Insurance broker to arrange coverage.
6) The Internet to get behind me

I am prepared to stand up, and to speak, and to lose my anonymity. Anybody interested let me know by PM. The first planning meeting is the 19th, the second is the 22nd and the protest, subject to resources, and plans going well the protest is the 29th. Thanks for all the replies.

Please PM me.

I would ask the Mods to lock this thread. I will restart a new one when we have some plans.

Regards

Ger (Onlyone)
