A property developer has been found not guilty of criminal damage and dangerous driving charges after an incident in which a concrete mixer truck was driven at the gates of Leinster House.
The lorry, which had the words "Toxic Bank" and "Anglo" painted in red on its sides, caused €35 of minor damage.
Joe McNamara (41), of Dun na Carraige, Blackrock, Co Galway, who owed Anglo Irish Bank €7.5m, was charged at Dublin District Court.
The court heard Mr McNamara, dubbed 'the Anglo Avenger', was exercising his rights to express opinions and he denied dangerous driving, criminal damage, not having a certificate of road worthiness, and failing to produce a driving licence.

A DUBLIN COURT HAS struck out the charges brought against a protester who parked a cherry picker truck outside Leinster House.

RTÉ.ie reports that McNamara’s solicitor, Cahir O’Higgins, told the court that McNamara regretted any inconvenience and waste of court and state resources. McNamara said to journalists gathered at Dublin District Court that there would be “no more protests”.

Dublin District Court had recently dismissed criminal damage and dangerous driving charges against McNamara relating to an incident in September 2010 in which he drove a cement mixer to the gates of Leinster House.

He also said that while at the time he had owed 7.5m to Anglo Irish Bank, that "debt has reduced a hell of a lot since".

A massive Stonehenge-esque structure has appeared on an Achill hilltop over the weekend. The man behind the clandestine project, the purpose of which remains unclear, is Achill native Joe McNamara, also known as ‘The Anglo Avenger’ after his high-profile protests against Anglo Irish Bank last year.
Reportedly over six months in planning, the enormous circular structure, which is located on commonage land above Pollagh, was erected at great speed but with a high level of precision. A group of men, with McNamara in charge, worked long hours over the weekend on its construction. The projected cost of its manufacture and installation is believed to be in excess of €1 million.
The structure – dubbed Achill-henge – was built without planning permission, a spokesperson for Mayo County Council told The Mayo News. Towering nearly 15 feet from its base, it is 30 metres in diameter and has a circumference of close to 100 metres. Over 30 articulated trucks arrived in Pollagh on Friday from Galway carrying pre-cast concrete, and work began in mid-morning. Mayo County Council has taken the matter to the High Court.
