Have heard a rumour (from 2 separate people) that a well known D4 eatery will be branching out in that premises

Went past the Botanic in Glasnevin/Phibsboro the other night and it was shut up.

I live near there. The place seems quiet nice inside but anytime I was in there it was aways very quiet. I think the celtic tiger was bringing in the customers there and when the tiger stopped roaring the customers stopped coming.

I think you're talking about Ireland there.

Two new craft beer pubs opening in Dublin in Feb:

The Black Sheep on Capel Street (from the people who brought you Against the Grain on Wexford Street)

http://www.facebook.com/AgainstTheGrainDublin

W.J. Kavanagh's on Dorset Street (from the people who brought you L Mulligan Grocer in Stoneybatter)

http://www.facebook.com/pages/W-J-Kavanagh/223769697702876

There is certainly life in the craft segment of the Irish pub market.

Conways on Parnell Street closed a while back; anyone know exactly why?

Speaking of Parnell street I was passing by The Parnell Mooney at lunchtime today. It has been closed a while but when I passed today there was refurbishment work ongoing. It was like the the Celtic Tiger was still roaring.

Murrays on Bath Ave (http://g.co/maps/6v6kw) is being seriously renovated. Rumours locally are that it's going to be a Google-oriented pub, trying to grab the Slattery's crowd.

Anyone know who bought it?

I don't believe it was sold.

To the best of my knowledge the premises is owned by a local business man who rents the property to would be publicians.

To date nobody has made a go of it.

Hmmm, which Slats ?

I know one story about a Slats that resulted in a large number of patrons boycotting the establishment until the issue was resolved. Even then a lot of people never darkened the door afterward because of the way management & owners acted.

Much water has passed under the bridge since then, but the bodies are still the same.

There is a local cottage industry catering to Google, Facebook and Linkedin staff around Grand Canal Dock area. Makes for some great places to eat but an awful lot of bloody hipsters hanging around.
