It is believed that the premises will now be let to the businesspeople behind Flannery’s pub on nearby Camden Street. The Pod name, though, won’t disappear. Reynolds will continue to promote shows in other venues (he is one of the co-owners of the Button Factory in the city) and has interests in festivals such as Body & Soul and Forbidden Fruit.

The people who bought Flannery's or those who sold it :)

I remember one of the talked about pub sales during the tigger was The Stags Head; think it was 6 or 8 million. I wonder what the price would be today.

Happen to know who that is?

I believe the same individual owns the spar shop across the road.

The pub loses its pulling power

...

Now pubs are closing at a rate of one every two days – more than 1,100 since 2005.

...

Only last week, some of Dublin’s trendiest watering-holes – the Odeon, Pod and Crawdaddy on Harcourt Street – closed their doors, as did the downstairs venue at the Lower Deck in Portobello. North of the Liffey, the traditional “12 apostles” pub crawl from DCU to the city centre is now reduced to 10 after a brace of bars on the route – the Red Windmill and the Botanic House – failed to reopen after Christmas.

...

Many of the remaining pubs are shut for half the week.

that main IT article on why Pubs are going bust and losing punters blames the earth, moon and stars...but fails to mention the main reason IMO why people have stopped going...PRICE.
very hard to get a pint of lager in Dublin (close to or in the city centre) for less than €5. Throw in a taxi ride home and it's an expensive night out, especially if in rounds. People simply can't afford that too often, especilly not Thurs to Sun. Lower the price to less than €4....eliminate half the needless floor staff, hoverin in the background trying to look busy, get cheaper rents, lose half the needless bouncers and let the bar staff refuse to serve people very drunk (like they did 15 years ago), get better rates from the breweries or else source cheaper draugh beers from England/NI...basically, cut back on the running costs and serve cheaper pints...watch the punters come back

I paid 10 euro for a jagerbomb (not mine) last night in a dumpy Dublin pub. That was 5 euro for one shot and 5 euro for a single small can of red bull. Won't be going out for a while after that.

Pub prices are possibly one of the most significant factors in falling pub trade however, the off-licence outlets are picking up lost pub trade which raises further health policy concerns.
Worth reflecting on the negative impacts the alcohol industry costs the Irish State see here
