Our job on the Pin is to find out the names of these TDs who use their positions to further their own gain. We must get names and holdings along with proposals being put to the Dail.

100% agree. I think they are required to disclose this information though - in fact I'm pretty sure there was a post some while back on the PIN listing them or at least a link to where the holdings of TDs were listed. Was quite substantial for some of them if I remember rightly.

I believe that there's plenty more where that came from but has been re-registered to other family members....

My friend is regularly telling me about his ex slumlord boss who became a millionaire by providing emergency shelter for social welfare in the inner city.
The places that made him a millionaire were slums, he could double or triple book rooms and the social welfare didn't give a damn. Most of the tenants were junkies or anti-social in one respect or another.
The same muppets are in social welfare so I wouldn't expect much from this scheme.

This is very true. I know of 3 properties that came to the attention of a residents group in the DCC area all adjoined that where let to the EHB at unbelievably extortionate rates. So much so I could imagine you woul d have tunred over a milliion wihtin a few years easily. However it does not end there.

If someoe was to really audit the governmetnon spending the country would collapse.

Bertie Bashers point stands. This is not about the homeless, if it was irish society would have solved that problem a long time ago. 6000 an un managable task.So much so that it seems to be static almost meaning the problem is not spirralling out of control.

Its another mindless indirect subsidy to the political and landed classes. peopel might not like to think in such old world terms but so little has changed in some aspects of Irish society its appauling.

Predicted a long time go on the pin by some poster. Who was it?

Is there a Seanad equivalent ?

I'd be keen to see Sen. Donie Cassidy's 'Interests' as if I can't guess !

I love this

The strategy suggests that local authorities and homeless agencies should consider using more private-rented accommodation while bearing in mind issues such as access to support services and the need to avoid concentrating vulnerable people in one area.

Just got this flyer posted though my front door today for The Access Housing Unit

"The Access Housing Unit is a free government funded accommodation find service. We offer property owners a direct link to potential tenants with ongoing support, information and advice throughout the tenancy. We source accommodation under Rent Supplement and through the Rental Accommodation Scheme."

And just in case it wasn't transparent enough what is going on... you'll see after accessing the site that there is a section for landlords but none for the homeless.

Just popped an email off to them there to see if I can fish out some information on what the scheme will actually cover.
If I get a reply I'll make sure to post it.
